Waterfall in a Canyon III

Description

This is one of the earlier Waterfall shots I took in the Buttermilk Canyon, back when I was exclusively film. (This shot was taken in 2000) It was shot on Fuji Velvia slide film. The camera was a Canon T60 with a 35-70 zoom lense stopped down to F16. Additionally, I used a polarizer to cut the light a bit more, so I got the shot to about 4 seconds. Scanned using a Tamarack slide/negative scanner at 2400 DPI. The slide scanner had some major issues... a bad habit of leaving large streaky lines across the shot, this is one of the few that this wasn't a major issue with. Minor contrast/color adjustments in Paint Shop Pro.

I used to love working with slide film. It forces you to be a bit more technical and really think your shots through, the local photo lab can't make individual adjustments on slides. Most good photo labs can properly correct a print from a negative up to 7 esposure values off... not so with slides...

Of course, in the digital age... correction is just a click away.
